Raggy rainbows

One of those little chores which gets side-lined for months - washing the stiffness out of new fabrics. I am not one for bright, busy, decorative patterns; exquisitely simple prints are joyful to me.

This one is my very favourite - I bought a whole metre of it and almost bankrupted myself, just in case I never found it again. It's style number 31944-4 in the 'Cat in the Manor' range from Windham Fabrics.

But they all looked lovely once they were hung out to dry.

Raggy rainbows.

While I was playing Mrs Tiggywinkle, I tea stained a length of poplin too.

Spot the cat - not in the manor, but in the strawberry patch.

This blogger has an awesome amount of gorgeous fabrics - makes my stash look like a drop in a puddle.

Oooh, fabrics. They're beautiful all hanging on the line, like flags from mysterious nations.

I have a minor addiction to both yarn and fabric. The fabric stash tends to grow haphazardly from sales at the fabric store or interesting prints at secondhand stores and yard sales. Miss V also tends to loot the stash every now and then.

I just love brand new fabric - the crispness, the smell, the possibilities, everything about it. It actually makes me sad when I have to use any of my stash, although I realise that is really daft - no-one makes money hoarding stuff!

Lovely lovely fabrics! :) I've just popped over to see the Blogger with an eNORmous stash and it looks like one of those amazing fabric shops where I want to buy everything but end up with buying just the one because it's so expensive! What a lucky girl she is to have so much, although having said that, I'd sprend too long wondering which one to use and probably ending up with too many colours as usual! ;) xx

Wow, Gretel look at that garden, full to the brim with plants......can't have been too bad a season?!

Love the blue spot fabric, gorgeous colours.........
I usually throw new fabrics into a soapy wash as soon as I get home, only because I'm impatient and can't wait to use them........

Now, what wonderful things are you going to whip up with all this great fabric? A wee birdy or two........

Enjoy your weekend,

Claire :}

Love your fabrics! I'm glad I looked at the link - because now I don't have to worry about having too much fabric - I have a tiny fraction of her stash!!

you can never have too much fabric. it's impossible. :-)

I'm with you, Gretel, in preferring fabrics without their stiffening "sizing." Wonder...is sizing actually some kind of starch?

Anyhow, pretty fabric looks better when it can actually be itself. Oh...is this some sort of metaphor for all of us? Might we all look better without any starchy sizing? My guess is yes.

When I look at your back garden with the clothes lines strung with those colors, I am thinking that I see beautiful banners, flags of many imaginary lands where creativity dwells.

Just a thought! xo

I would have chosen the blue one too, it has that field-of-daisies-and-blue-sky appeal, the colours of the annunciation too. That is a very Mrs. Tiggywinkle washing-line of colours. I am amazed at your successfully intensive gardening (obviously appreciated by little cat/s in the greenery too.)
