Mouse and friends

I started life as a mysterious cone...was I a toadstool?

Eyes - now I can see! What are those long ears? Am I a rabbit?

Oh dear...I really don't feel right in these ears. but I like my big green slippers. My eyes are too small though.

Oh that's much better! I am - a mouse!

And here I am with my good friend, the blue cat.

She is a rare Chocolate Point Turquoise Siamese.

And here we are with our other friends, Peggy Goose and Yellow Dog the Third.

Tomorrow we set off on our big, secret adventure...

They are amazingly adorable!

I love the mouse's outfit...it reminds me of clown's with the big pom pom buttons. The face of your cat is lovely...that's nice how the color blends so well.

You are an absolute genius at creating characters in 3D, how do you do it? I could not do that in a million years! Maybe I would be able to do the needle felting but your ability to create such adorable creations, that is a real talent.

Where did all this needle felting come from? Is it a new invention?

What a wonderful menagerie of animals.
I'm going to be in England for 2 weeks as of Wed.am.
My aunt's 90th b'day.

Fantastic is what you are! I hope we get to be in on the big adventure. Do you ever write their stories before they go off? Because they have so much personality, I'm sure there are some amazing stories to be told.

Thank you so much everyone! Yes, needlefelting is relatively new as far as I know, and it is very new in the UK (compared to its popularity in Scandinavia and America).
Funily enough I am really rubbish at thinking up stories for them - I do try, but unless I'm blogging about them, I can't think of anything I am happy with. Must try harder.

They ARE amazing; and imbued with definite personalities. I have a friend who makes dolls, and she says that the doll tells you who it wants to be, you don't tell the doll.

You know that you are a genius at coaxing shapes out of wool, don't you ? ? ? ;~)

Wow. I wish I could hear what they were saying to one another in that last photo.

These are simply perfect, Gretel!

If I were your adorable mouse with the big buttons, I would keep an eye on that exquisite grey cat. She may seem friendly, but ....

Truly, PG, these are a wonderful bunch. Lots of personality.

I found myself chuckling as each photo appeared. Your menagerie is lovely.
I also needle felt...some of my little fellows are giving a sneak peek in my current post.

These are absolutely stunning, Gretel. I particularly liked the tantalising, stage-by stage unfolding of the mouse!

How fun to witness your creative process! I love the tilt of the cat- it seems alive. I fear for your mouse.

It was also interesting to see your studio (below). I've spent the past couple of days moving back into my office after a year away in England - it was the last room to be unpacked. It's a challenge to house my art supplies, paintings, house business and all my notes and books for novel writing in one small space! I do feel settled now and ready to write my next novel. It's important to have a well organized creative space, and your studio is inspiring with lovely details.

That mouse has a great demeanour. Not everyone can pull off an outfit like that:¬)

Oh goody! I'm very exited for them all (a perfect selection), and wish them well on their adventures.

The new mousie is darling. Remind me to tell you about my own potential mouse project (will hopefully know more this week. 'Must be serendipitous! or synchronistic?)

How do you manage to get such lovely neat tails on your cat and mouse? Looking at the group again this morning - they are so lovely!

Your felt toys just get more and more eye wateringly wonderful...
My mum just loves them too in all their sculptural exquisiteness and is even tempted to try the technique I think!
I wonder what the secret adventure is :)

I defy anyone to tell me that they are not real. They are and I can hear them whispering advice to Mouse. They feel a bit more street wise and I think that they are worried that Mouse may be somewhat rash and incautious. Rare Kitty is adding her bit now and Yellow Dog the Third, being more introspective, is choosing his words carefully so as not to cause undo alarm. Peggy, no doubt, will add more advice in a moment.
