No time to honk!

Not only geese come in threes; the planets span against us and we had a sprained ankle (Andy, from cricket, but recovered now), chest x-rays (me, hopefully nothing to worry about) and a persistent furball (Pumpkin, who is now bright as a button since I spent all my goose-doll earnings on his vet's bill).

It has been a never ending list of - cottage-cleaning, potato harvesting, blight-ridden tomato bed clearing and subsequent green tomato chutney making, jam making, cricket weekends and somehow finding and extra hour or two every day as it has been decreed by my young, not-exactly-svelte-himself doctor that I need to lose a stone. So the surrounding villages have been having me as a regular visitor as I cycle the pounds off. My normal work schedule has been thrown to the winds and I am trying to frantically rein it in. I do not consider three new geese to be an acceptable week's work. Noses will be pressed to the grindstone, if I can summon the energy.

(So yes, for the people who missed the last lot,
I have three new geese for sale, on Etsy)

Oh dear - hope you have both recovered!! My GP is a very slim little thing - so I couldn't be annoyed if she told me what I know I need to do - lose weight!!

Oh not too good at all. I also need to lose a bit of extra weight *sigh* and my doc said no sugar, no caffiene, no wheat products, no meat, no dairy..... *another big sigh* and I can't ride a bike!
Love your geese though, and LOVE green tomato chutney!!YUM

I was beginning to wonder where you'd gone, but hoped it was because of a flurry of orders, not health and fitness concerns. My sympathies, Gretel - cycling is much more fun when it's for pleasure, not calorie burning! Lovely geese - let's hope they don't get swallowed up by more vet bills.

Ha! I just put up a picture of the Venus of Willendorf on Facebook, because that's where it's all going. Tomorrow starts brisk walking for an hour each day.

And isn't always the way; extra money just happens to come in to pay for cat, or the new uniform, or whatever.

What a cheeky doctor! I don't think you're particularly overweight from the pics I've seen of you, maybe it's to do with the problems with your chest making him draw that conclusion? When I was 17 and went to the doctor about unusual marks on my legs (stretchmarks...yes I was young and naive) he said to cut out bread and potatoes. I was only 7½ stone at the time!xx

Like the photo of the geese flopped over the sewing machine; sew us, stuff us... Maybe you'll see your doctor cycling as he tries to loose a stone too....

PG,

I do know about that tripling of events. It is strange how often three things will pop up.

Hoping that the ankle will not result in losses by our favorite cricket team? Hoping that Pumpkin is properly appreciative.

Hoping that your doctor will soon give you good news, and that you don't overdo the cycling. Carbohydrates seem to usually be at the center of weight gain. (I know from experience.)

The geese on the sewing machine picture is great!

Best wishes. xo

Hope you're getting better soon and fingers crossed that there's nothing to worry about with your x-rays.

I love the patterned fabrics you used on the geese. Really lovely.

Yes, who tells the porky doctors to get on their bikes?!

I symapthise - just at the time of year when all that ripe fruit is crying out for crumble and cream too. I hope your x rays are clear.

Well done you for making the effort! I'm sure you'll get a routine going & be back to work as normal.
Lost all my tomatoes too, not even worth saving for chutney - damn the rain!

Hope your x-ray gets sorted out with no worries. I need to do exercise. I haven't had any warning signs as such but I feel porkier than I did.

These geese are my all time favourite of your work... I too like the photo of them on the sewing machine. They have such character!

I hope you all feel better soon. I too have been cycling the pounds (ok ounces!) off, and my route takes me through my favourite woods. So that makes it more enjoyable and I come home inspired.

These new geese are fabulous, you are sooo clever.

I've moved blog, so drop by sometime and say hi, it's early days yet, but I'm sure I'll soon fill it up!!!

They are very jolly geese, and what very neat gusset work you are doing on their fronts. I love their upside-down hopeful faces on the sewing machine, like Christmas stockings waiting for Santa.
If the three bad or troublesome things have already happened then it's time for the multiple nice things to come along. The last time I broke something (glass gazing ball) Avril promptly offered me two more things to break, to dispel any remaining bogeys!
Blessings,
Frances

Gretel,
I am happy that you take time to take care of yourself! Bicycling is lovely this time of the year, and it will do you good to be out in the air and train your muscels before it gets cold and dreary and your are caught inside with your workload.
The geese are loverly!
