A very quick order for a birthday present - a fat robin clip. Rather nice to make something in under five hours; one of my latest pieces has taken around about 30 hours plus and still not quite finished.
There are all kinds of treasures on this bookcase, but now there are some new ones - discovered on Etsy in 'Found For You Supplies', a set of gorgeous red vintage threads. Can you spot them?
There. Simply eye-tickling red loveliness. I had intended to use them for embellishing birds and *things* but now they are displayed I don't think I can bear to spoil them. I will colour match them with new threads instead.

ReplyDeleteHaha, I bought two vintage spools of silk thread a couple of years ago to use for embellishment...they too look very pretty untouched on my shelf!
If I ever visited your cottage, you'd have to frisk me on leaving for all the books I would be trying to 'borrow'!!

ReplyDeleteThose glossy reds are very fetching too, like rosy flame hues. And wooden bobbins - the new threads all come on plastic bobbins and I much prefer the wooden ones.
Zooming for a closer look I see a familiar volume - I have the same little Mother Goose!
I do love that plucky little robin! One of his American cousins has been perching on the snow-decked branches of the ornamental cherry tree just outside the entranceway to the shop. I find this winter robin beautiful, if totally misguided as to where he really should be in January.

Wooden thread spools are the best. We used to use them to blow soapy bubbles from our childhood bathtubs. Did you?
